Acupuncture for IVF and IUI

Acupuncture treats any underlying imbalances through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine to assist and optimize patients IVF and IUI procedures.

If you have an irregular menstrual cycle, it is best to come in for treatments 2-3 months prior to the procedure to assist the regulation of
your cycle. Your Acupuncturist will determine the best treatment strategy for you at this time.

Acupuncture Treatments For IVF

Below is an outline of how we schedule treatments for patients undergoing IVF:
Initial Treatment

Initial Treatment

In this session, a personalized consultation is followed by a treatment. This is where we look over your health history to determine the best treatment plan to prepare the body for the upcoming cycle. At this stage we want to assist the body to be as prepared and balanced as possible for IVF.
Acupuncture for Fertility

Between Trigger and Egg Collection

This is a small window of time where the ovaries are triggered to mimic ovulation and prepare for pickup. When the trigger injection is given, it physically changes the eggs and they become vascular.
Acupuncture for Fertility

Post Egg Collection

This treatment will take place just after egg collection. Directing energy to the abdomen may assist with the healing process and to ensure that everything is optimal for the transfer of the embryo.

Pre and Post Embryo Transfer

These treatments occurs before and directly after the transfer of the embryo back into the uterus. These sessions may assist in relaxing the patient and to encourage the embryo to implant.

Implantation Treatment

The final treatment is done 4 – 8 days after IVF transfer, around the time that an embryo would naturally implant in the uterus

Supporting IUI

During your menstruation

During your menstruation

One treatment during your flow can help promote a full bleed to ensure all endometrial lining is shed. This ensures a fresh base free of obstructions for implantation.
Two to four days after the last day of your menstruation

Two to four days after the last day of your menstruation

This appointment assists to stimulate healthy follicle and endometrium development.
Pre and Post IUI

Pre and Post IUI

This treatment occurs before and directly after the IUI procedure. These sessions may assist in relaxing the nervous system and encouraging circulation to the uterus.
Session 4: Implantation Treatment

Session 4: Implantation Treatment

The final treatment is done 4 – 8 days after the IUI procedure, around the time that an embryo would naturally implant in the uterus. It may assist in maintaining progesterone levels and encourage implantation.
Optional: Maintenance Treatments

Optional: Maintenance Treatments

Treatments 1x per week can continue until pregnancy is confirmed and throughout the first trimester. These treatments my assist in holding the pregnancy, especially for women who have history of miscarriage or other early pregnancy complications.
